IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 6, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Phillip L. Doolittle, who serves as Brandman University's chief financial officer and executive vice chancellor of finance and administration, will serve a three-year term as chair of the WASC Senior College and University Commission.
In addition to his role as Brandman's top financial manager, Doolittle also supervises core university operations including administrative services, facilities, information technology, and human resources. He began his position with Brandman in August 2013, and has served as a member of the WASC Senior College and University Commission since July 2016.
"The role of the WASC Senior College and University Commission is vitally important to students, particularly during these challenging times," Doolittle said. "I look forward to working with my colleagues on the commission, as well as with the commission staff, as we continue to encourage and support institutional improvement and educational effectiveness, and to strengthen the accreditation process."
The WASC Senior College and University Commission accredits public and private colleges and universities in California, Hawaii, and the Pacific. The commission has also accredited some institutions in other countries.
Accreditation, according to the commission, "aids institutions in developing and sustaining effective educational programs and assures the educational community, the general public, and other organizations that an accredited institution has met high standards of quality and effectiveness." The U.S. Department of Education only disburses student aid to enrollees of accredited colleges and universities.

Before joining Brandman, Doolittle served in leadership roles at University of Redlands and in the aerospace industry. He has previously served on the governing boards for several organizations including the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), Redlands Community Hospital, Redlands Symphony, and the Watchorn Lincoln Memorial Association, which provides financial support and other assistance to the Lincoln Memorial Shrine. The Lincoln Memorial Shrine is a museum in Redlands, California focused on the history of President Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War.
Doolittle earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Business Administration from University of Redlands and a Master of Business Administration from the Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University.
