BrandZ™ revealed the Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands for 2019. Haier, commonly known as a home appliance enterprise, entered the list as the only company under the new "IoT Ecosystem" category with a brand value worth US$16.3 billion.
NEW YORK, June 12, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On June 11, 2019, BrandZ™, the world-renowned brand Institution, revealed the Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands for 2019, with Amazon surpassing Google and Apple as the new champion and technology, finance and retail categories dominating the list.
Almost a third of a trillion dollars ($328 billion) of value was added to the ranking over the last year, giving it a combined brand value of $4.7 trillion. Nine newcomers appear in the Top 100, predominantly driven by Chinese and US technology brands with disruptive business models including Dell Technologies, Xbox, Haier, Meituan and Xiaomi.
The 2019 list is also an evolution of the list itself as new categories such as "Platform" and "Ecosystems" were created to reflect the innovation in business models in today's connected world. Haier, a first-timer on this list and commonly known as a home appliance enterprise, is listed under the "IoT Ecosystem" category and is the only IoT ecosystem brand included on this list with a brand value of USD16.3 billion, ranking 89th.
"We're seeing a move from individual product and service brands to a new era of highly-disruptive ecosystems." Said David Roth, CEO of The Store WPP EMEA and Asia and Chairman of BrandZ™.
Unlike product brands and platform brands, an ecosystem brand evolves on the basis of ecosystem value and allows its customers and partners to co-create with the enterprise. In the ecosystem, employees are empowered to make decisions, which enables them to create value for the customer while realizing their own value. In other words, the company can, in a dynamic way, meet all demands of all users.
Being the world's first and only brand of IoT ecosystem placed on the list, Haier owes its success to its 14-year efforts of probing into the IoT business model. In 2005, Mr. Ruimin Zhang, Chairman and CEO of Haier Group, proposed Rendanheyi Model for the first time. In the subsequent 14 years, Haier Group, by making constant upgrades, innovations and self-disruptions, has successfully established the Ecosystem Brand.
"In the past few years, Haier has transformed from a traditional home appliance brand to IoT ecosystem brand, thus shifting from 'decided by the boss' to 'decided by users'. All stakeholders create value for users." Commented Doreen Wang, Global Head of Kantar BrandZ™. "In this way, value of Haier ecosystem brand has reached $16.3 billion. This is because Haier is disrupting itself every day."
