The Brazil Pre-Salt Week provides an essential platform for industry professionals to discover the most exciting investment opportunities in Brazil's energy sector. Before the pre-salt discoveries in Brazil, Brazil's proven reserves totalled 20 billion barrels. Since then, conservative estimates calculate Brazil's reserves hold around 50 billion barrels, just shy of the North Sea's total reserves. Other experts have estimated Brazil's reserves to hold three times as much oil. Pre-salt deposits are undoubtedly numerous in Brazil. The recently sold Libra field offers at least 8 - 12 billion barrels of oil, the minimum of which would cover more than a year's worth of U.S. crude oil consumption. The Tupi field in the Santos Basin holds a recoverable 5 to 8 billion barrels of oil, whilst the nearby Guará well holds between 1.1 to 2 billion barrels of light oil and natural gas. Nevertheless, as Petrobras readily admits, although economically feasible, the projects remain technically challenging.
The unique Brazil Pre-Salt Week 2014, 28 - 30 April 2014, is a 3-day event including a multi-streamed conference and exhibition which will focus on the latest advances in pre-salt technology, as well as the regulatory outlook, reservoir quality predictability, subsea technology, Brazilian seismic acquisition and much more. The Summit will also include a series of training workshops examining reservoir characterisation, drilling and well completion challenges and subsea challenges, among other things. Delegates, who will include Energy Ministers, senior-level oil and gas company representatives, contractors, service companies and solution-providers, will have the enviable opportunity to enjoy Rio's beautiful skyline on Networking helicopter Tours. A business match-making service will also be on offer to arrange one-on-one meetings between delegates.
