Break Out the Euros: smarTours Finds Nearly Half of Travelers Really Want Europe to Be Their Next Trip
Recent EU Re-opening News Lines Up With Traveler Demands
NEW YORK, May 3, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- According to a new survey from smarTours, a leading provider of affordable trips to bucket list destinations, Europe is the most desired destination that travelers really want to visit on their next trip. More than 40% of survey respondents reported Europe is where they want to travel next, by far the most popular destinations among the polled travelers. This number of travelers wanting to go to Europe increased to 49% among those 75+. Africa was the next most popular destination with 12% of survey travelers indicating that's where they really want to go next. Few polled travelers wanted somewhere in the U.S. to be their next trip with 7% of travelers surveyed wanting to travel domestically on their next trip. This number was constantly low even among older travelers.
Americans are anxious to travel. 61% of those surveyed are ready to travel this year. Only 15% of survey respondents reported that they don't know when they are ready to travel next, compared to 35% in July 2020.
"Travelers are anxious to take off to international destinations. After more than a year at home, travelers don't want to wait any longer to tick items off their bucket lists," says Christine Petersen, CEO of smarTours. "With more than 90% of our travelers already being vaccinated, our bookings are up significantly and beginning to match pre-pandemic levels."
Travelers are really ready to check off their bucket lists. 57% of those surveyed reported that they really want to cross a destination off their bucket list the next time they travel. Travelers are also anxious to explore and socialize, only 8% of those surveyed wanted to lounge by a pool or on the beach for their next trip.
Additional smarTours findings include:
-Travelers are anxious to be with their friends: 35% of survey respondents said they want their next trip to be with their friends.
-Everyone wants a break from work: only 1% of survey respondents want their next travel trip to be for work.
-Need some me-time: 10% of survey respondents want to get away by themselves and only 15% of survey respondents want their next travel trip to be a romantic escape with their partner.
