Green Builder Magazine Names AeroBarrier A Best New Product For Energy Efficient Building

AeroBarrier represents a potential sea change in the way energy efficient homes and buildings are constructed.

AeroBarrierAeroBarrier® , a breakthrough home and building envelope sealing technology, has been selected to receive a 2019 Product Innovation of the Year Award by Green Builder magazine. Chosen among dozens of competing products and technologies, AeroBarrier stood out as a major achievement in energy efficient building science and a catalyst for advancing the development of energy efficient homes and buildings.

The Product Innovation of the Year award is part of Green Builder magazine’s annual Sustainability Awards program. Award winners were chosen by Green Builder Media’s award-winning staff, including veteran homebuilder Ron Jones, Building Expert Cati O’Keefe and Editor-in-Chief Matt Power.

“Product innovations like AeroBarrier show that manufacturers are rising to face environmental challenges, both on the small and global scale” said Power. “They know there’s no time to waste, and their products reflect that urgency.”

AeroBarrier, uses an aerosolized sealing process that simultaneously measures and seals building envelope leaks in residential, multi-family, and commercial buildings. A self-guided, computer-controlled sealing system, AeroBarrier replaces the traditional multi-product / multi-process approach to envelope sealing with a single application that provides a more consistent, less expensive way to seal the entire building envelope. Designed for use by builders, AeroBarrier makes it easy and economical to seal the building envelope to any desired level of tightness, including IECC, Energy Star, LEED or passive house standards. AeroBarrier takes the guesswork out of building envelope sealing and provides guaranteed results.

“AeroBarrier represents a potential sea change in the way energy efficient homes and buildings are constructed,” said Mark Modera, principal inventor, Sempra Energy chair in energy efficiency, professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Director of the Western Cooling Efficiency Center at University of California Davis. “With AeroBarrier, envelope sealing – a routine that is typically a long, expensive, labor-intensive process -- can now be completed in a matter of hours.”

The Green Builder Product Innovation of the Year award will be presented to Aeroseal LLC at an award ceremony being held February 17th, at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. AeroBarrier and other award-winning technologies will be featured in the January/February issue of Green Builder magazine. Aeroseal is a leading pioneer in sustainable building technologies and sole owner and licensee of AeroBarrier technology.
