Bricton Group / Gettys Group venture to transform landmark airport hotel into city crown jewel

SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A joint venture led by The Bricton Group and The Gettys Group is making a significant investment in the San Antonio business and leisure travel market. The venture plans to transform a recently closed Holiday Inn, in a prime location adjacent to the airport, into the new Marriott San Antonio Airport Hotel. The joint venture's $36 million redevelopment of this property will reflect the upscale needs of a growing number of travelers flocking to the area.

The San Antonio International Airport has been reporting record numbers of travelers for the last three years. In 2018, more than 10 million passengers passed through its gates.

All 365 guest rooms of the revitalized Marriott San Antonio Airport Hotel will be reimagined with a fresh layout, flooring, furnishings and bathrooms. An expanded 16,700 square feet of meeting space will include a 5,400 square-foot ballroom, and multiple meeting areas and breakout rooms. The first floor will be gutted, expanded, and rebuilt with raised ceilings, more lobby space, and a new outdoor area with an extensive patio bar and pool.

Additional upscale enhancements include a state-of-the-art fitness center and the M Club, a VIP lounge for members of Marriott's Bonvoy Membership program who have earned Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite status.

The hotel will elevate food and beverage offerings through indoor and outdoor dining, grab-and-go services, a restaurant and lounge with communal or private dining seating.

This is the first entry into San Antonio for the Bricton Group, which has established a reputation for best-in-class hotel management as evidenced by its numerous award-winning properties across a diverse portfolio throughout the United States.

The venture purchased the vacant hotel after it had closed, and was able to execute on a complicated transaction that benefitted both seller and buyer, and will continue to benefit San Antonio's growing business and travel community. The goal: to transform a diamond in the rough into a crown jewel, conveniently located one mile from the airport, close to city center, and across the street from a busy mall.
