These cables can be used in Class I, Division 1 hazardous-area locations. The heating cable carries approvals from both the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and Factory Mutual (FM).
Class I, Division 1 locations are those in which flammable gases or vapors are or may be present in the air in quantities sufficient to produce explosive or ignitable mixtures. Ignitable concentrations of flammable gases, vapors, liquids, or even dust can exist under normal operating conditions and can be found in many industries, such as oil and gas, chemical, hydrocarbon refining, mining, and coal processing, along with many others.
