Brock Read Named Editor of The Chronicle of Higher Education
Brock Read, a Chronicle journalist for almost two decades, will be the ninth editor of The Chronicle of Higher Education. As editor, Read will lead the nation's largest and most influential newsroom of award-winning journalists covering U.S. colleges and universities.

Brock Read, a Chronicle journalist for almost two decades, will be the ninth editor of The Chronicle of Higher Education. As editor, Read will lead the nation's largest and most influential newsroom of award-winning journalists covering U.S. colleges and universities.

"Brock's experience covering change in higher education from within The Chronicle make him the perfect person to lead our newsroom going forward and shape our coverage of this essential sector during this unprecedented time."
Since joining The Chronicle in 2001, Read has served in a variety of roles, including as the newsroom's first web producer and then as web editor. Read also worked extensively on two major redesigns of Chronicle.com and the creation of The Chronicle's academic-career site, ChronicleVitae, before returning to the newsroom to guide daily-news coverage in 2014. Read was tapped as a managing editor in May 2019, leading a team of editors and reporters in providing breaking coverage and expert analysis of higher-education news and trends.

Read has a bachelor's degree in Art History from Williams College. He will assume his editor duties at The Chronicle of Higher Education immediately, where, as part of the Chronicle newsroom, he will also oversee The Chronicle Review and Arts & Letters Daily.
As part of this transition, Evan Goldstein, a 15-year veteran of The Chronicle of Higher Education and editor of The Chronicle's opinion coverage under The Chronicle Review, will serve as The Chronicle's sole managing editor. Goldstein became a managing editor this past January and has been the driving force behind the recent redesign of The Chronicle's print publication.
