BreakThrough Physical Therapist Earns Women’s Health Clinical Specialist Certification
Morehead City, NC (PRWEB) July 08, 2013 -- BreakThrough Physical Therapy (BTPT) is proud to announce that Jolene Faught, PT, MPT, WCS has earned the professional designation of Women’s Health Clinical Specialist (WCS). This board-certification is granted by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS) and involves rigorous application and examination processes and provides assurance to patients and the medical community of Jolene’s skills and abilities. Jolene is recognized for advanced knowledge, experience, and skills in the practice of Women’s Health Physical Therapy; patients, physicians, and other health care providers can be assured of Jolene’s expertise even with complex patients. Jolene provides physical therapy services at BTPT’s Morehead City location.
Similar to physician specialization, there are eight specialty areas in which physical therapists can be board certified. Roughly 6.5% of the physical therapists in the United States are Board Certified in a specialty. As of June 2011, there are 111 therapists in the United States who have achieved the advanced distinction of Women’s Health Clinical Specialists (WCS). Those with this advanced certification are considered to have a great depth of knowledge and skills in their specialty area of physical therapy.
“This certification is verification of my dedication and expertise in providing women with exceptional care throughout their life span,” states Jolene. “I look forward to providing amazing service to my patients and helping them get back to doing the activities they love as quickly as possible. I am dedicated to educating our community of providers, physical therapists, athletes, mothers, grandmothers, and women who strive for optimal health at all ages.”
Jolene graduated from Eastern Washington University's Master of Physical Therapy program in 1999. Since that time Jolene has worked to develop her manual therapy skills and pursue extensive training and education in the areas of Women's Health Physical Therapy and Pelvic Rehab. Her extensive knowledge within the Women's Health Physical Therapy realm enables her to treat women with pelvic pain, incontinence, chronic low back pain, SI joint/hip dysfunction, and pregnancy/post-partum related low back and pelvic dysfunctions. Jolene also treats men with pelvic floor dysfunction and pain. Jolene is utilizing intramuscular manual therapy (trigger point dry needling) to improve outcomes with many patients in even fewer visits.
Due to her belief in grass roots education, Jolene has provided in-services and spoken to physicians, hospital based nursing staff, other physical therapists, community groups, military physical therapists and physicians, and individuals undergoing abdominal and/or pelvic surgery. She most often presents information for men and women of all ages explaining normal bladder/ bowel health, sexual function, posture, and effects of pregnancy and labor as related to a woman's body.
