AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 10, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- BuildGroup, an operator-led company that invests in high-growth technology firms, today announced the launch of BuildGroup Data Systems (BGDS), a new platform that will allow companies and investors to better navigate the private capital raising process. The goal of the platform is to better match the right private capital investors with entrepreneurs and their leadership teams.
BuildGroup is launching BGDS after their acquisition of PreSeries earlier this summer. PreSeries' technology complements BuildGroup's internal data-science capabilities which the company developed to help identify investment opportunities meeting the criteria of modern business models. The BGDS platform utilizes unique data-driven insights to automate crucial research into private investments. The platform is now in private beta and will be made generally available to additional users in the near future.

With the launch, BuildGroup Data Systems also added two key members to the team. Ian Rickey, who was previously the Director of Data Science at Alert Logic, will be the company's CTO. Javier Alperte, who was previously with PreSeries, will be advising the company in a permanent consulting capacity and will be focused on product management and development. BGDS is also currently expanding the size of their data-science team as they build out the capabilities of the BGDS platform.
The acquisition of PreSeries and launch of BGDS follows a productive 2019 for BuildGroup. The company has recently announced investments in New Knowledge, the Austin-based Information Integrity company, and previously led the $25M Series B for VidMob, the first-of-its-kind full stack creative-technology platform. Both investments validate BuildGroup's focus on facilitating the growth of modern businesses that leverage data-driven approaches across verticals.
BuildGroup is also formally announcing that Gray Hall has been named Managing Director of the company. Hall joined BuildGroup in 2018 to help launch their BuildGroup Executive Program. He previously served as Chairman and CEO of Alert Logic from July 2009 through 2018, leading the company from $9 million to $125 million in annual revenue, expanding into the UK, and building Alert Logic into a market-leading provider of cloud security solutions. As Managing Director of BuildGroup, he will focus on sourcing new investments, engaging with BuildGroup portfolio companies, and supporting the BGDS team.
In addition to Hall, BuildGroup has also made several key hires this year, including Flavia de la Fuente and Daisuke "Dice" Takeda, who have joined the team as Senior Associates.
