Building the Community Up, Window City Industries and Habitat For Humanity Greater Toronto Area, a Partnership Towards a Better Community
Over the last 27 years in business, Window City has grown to become the largest manufacturer of windows and doors in Canada. Today they face their greatest challenge yet, tackling housing affordability.
VAUGHAN, Ontario, June 26, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Window City Industries in Vaughan has made significant charitable donations to the Greater Toronto Area branch of Habitat for Humanity Canada. In December 2018, Window City donated new swing doors, patio sliding doors, tiles and flooring materials valued at over $95,000.00
These were donated directly to the GTA branch of Habitat for Humanity to be sold to the general public through one of twelve GTA ReStore locations. The ReStore donations and purchases directly support Habitat home-building projects. The contribution is in recognition of the organization's excellence in providing for the affordable housing needs of the GTA.
Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity International has grown to become a global nonprofit organization benefiting those in need in more than 70 countries including Canada. Today, Habitat for Humanity Canada is a leading national nonprofit organization, with 56 local Habitats working in every province and territory. With the help of these local Habitats, volunteers and Habitat homeowners, Habitat Canada has provided a solid foundation for thousands of families to lead better and healthier lives – both in Canada and around the world. The GTA branch of Habitat for Humanity had 54 homes under construction in 2018. In total, they have built more than 360 homes for families (including over 1,300 children), in partnership with the GTA community.
In recognition of their donation, Window City was bestowed with a commemorative plaque to recognize Window City as a "Groundbreaker Sponsor". Pictured is Joseph Sadr, Chief Operating Officer of Window City proudly holding the plaque.
"The need for affordable housing is immense, and the lasting impact it can have on homeowners and their families are undeniable" said founder and CEO, Jeff Sadr.
For 4 generations, Jeff Sadr and his family have played an integral part in the window manufacturing industry. "I wake up every morning with a feeling of immense gratitude to the thousands of Canadians that choose to use Window City's windows, entry and patio doors in their homes. We feel a sense of obligation and responsibility to give back to the community and to help those less fortunate to build a better life in Canada - that all starts with housing. Habitat for Humanity is a wonderful charity that shares in the same values as we do. Their commitment to transparency and best practices to ensure the best stewardship of donations has a direct and tangible impact of the community."
This charitable donation comes in the wake of several socially responsible initiatives that Window City has adopted, including its commitment to environmentally sustainable practices, eco-friendly products, diversity in the workplace, community outreach and philanthropy.
