Out of millions of companies in America, WB Surf Camp was selected as a small business to feature on Talent Insider.
WILMINGTON, N.C., Jan. 12, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- WB Surf Camp's experience with the hiring platform Indeed was highlighted by athlete, author, and entrepreneur Gabrielle Reece in a three-part video series for Talent Insider. The new interactive hub is a collaboration between Insider (a.k.a. Business Insider) and Indeed that focuses on small and medium-sized companies, and their series "The Hiring Journey," hosted by Reece, is designed to offer insights to businesses and entrepreneurs into these companies' missions and hiring processes. The first stop on that journey: WB Surf Camp.
To hear WB Surf Camp's story, Reece and the Talent Insider crew took a trip to Wrightsville Beach, on the scenic North Carolina coast. There, WB's founder Rick Civelli recounted his experience using Indeed. Civelli says, "Finding people is everything and that's the struggle for all small businesses right now...Indeed does an amazing job of helping us find the right people. As we have continued to grow as a company, and the more hiring we have to do, the return on investment that we get is tenfold."
One key team member they found is Bailey Kaufman, an Indeed user from New York who is now WB Surf Camp's Program Coordinator. Deaton Wright, WB's Operations Director, says, "I don't know if we would have ever found her without having that platform and being able to do things virtually...with Indeed we can highlight our company's mission and goals, and kind of what we're about, what type of person we're looking for to join our team."
Bailey recalls her job search through Indeed, "I want to try and tie my passions and what I love to do into my career. WB Surf Camp was a company that focused on environmental education and inspiring the youth, which I'm huge on, so a company that shared the same values as me, but also had a real serious mission." Civelli tells Reece, "We spent a lot of time in her interview process diving into 'What's her why?' And does it align with our mission statement."
Through Indeed, Bailey's hope to find a job that fit her passions matched perfectly with WB Surf Camp's why. Civelli says, "Our complete why is taking care of kids and teenagers and connecting them to the ocean, building their confidence, and bridging the gap with their own anxieties in life...Our program has a worldwide reach — but there's nothing like taking care of your local community." Reece adds, "When you can use a company like Indeed to hire people like Bailey, and then your business becomes more successful, then you're doing more for your community. It's such a good model."
