Business Builder, an online virtual event introducing suppliers to buyers through one-on-one pitch meetings, to take place on April 28 for construction and manufacturing
Designed to accelerate the growth of the diverse and minority-owned small business ecosystem in Los Angeles, Business Builder is one of several steps the Los Angeles Initiative for Inclusive Small Business plans to take to help fill historical economic gaps identified in its recent assessment. Funded by a grant from JPMorgan Chase & Co., Business Builder creates opportunity for small businesses through one-on-one pitch meetings with large prime contractors, buyers and Original Equipment Manufacturers.
LOS ANGELES, Mar. 20, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A virtual business to business event with one-on-one matchmaking that introduces prime contractors, buyers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to independent subcontractor and supplier small businesses with a focus on small businesses owned by minorities, women and veterans.
A recent assessment by the IISB exposed historical inequities in the LA economy that have been heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic for small businesses owned by minorities, women and veterans. IISB and its Business Builder events are designed to help strengthen the small business ecosystem in the Los Angeles County region. The initiative's assessment can be found at https://nextstreet.com/portfolio/la-county-small-business-ecosystem-assessment/
The event will hold a Plenary Session highlighting contracting opportunities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, 2028 Olympics, and the College Football National Championship, followed by a presentation on how to become a subcontractor to a prime.
The event will arrange pre-screened one-on-one matchmaking appointments for attendees, as well as provide advance workshops to small businesses to help them prepare for their one-one-one meetings with buyers and primes. These pre-screened introductions will match prime contractors and buyers with local subcontractors who can meet demand.
Business Builder is complete with a virtual exhibit hall, networking café, concurrent workshops and pre-screened one-on-one matchmaking appointments.
The virtual event will be on April 28, 2021 for construction and manufacturing beginning at 8:00 a.m. PST and ending 3:30 p.m. PST, located at http://www.businessbuilderexpo.com.
Business Builder is supported by the Los Angeles Initiative for Inclusive Small Business (IISB) – a collective of economic development organizations and professionals funded by a grant from JPMorgan Chase & Co. The two upcoming 2021 events, one for construction and manufacturing, another for professional services and commodities, are organized by Williams Consulting.
Boilerplate: Forged by data and strong partnerships, the Los Angeles County Initiative for Inclusive Small Business (IISB) is taking immediate steps to respond to the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the region's small business ecosystem based on the Los Angeles County Small Business Ecosystem Assessment conducted in 2020. Following a community-driven process with more than 45 small business and community leaders, the assessment proposed a path forward to address historical barriers limiting access to entrepreneurial opportunities for business owners of color and respond to the ongoing economic crisis. With a dual focus on increasing access to capital and critical capacity building for small businesses, the initiative is being coordinated by Lendistry, The Center by Lendistry, Concerned Capital, and local stakeholders in Los Angeles County, with support from national partners, Next Street and Community Allies.
This initiative and the Los Angeles County Small Business Ecosystem Assessment have been made possible by the financial support of JPMorgan Chase & Co.
