Butterfield Books Inc. Announces a New Book Series, the Kansas Quilter, for the Company's 20th Anniversary in 2014
Lindsborg, Kansas (PRWEB) November 30, 2013 -- In 2014, Butterfield Books Inc. will celebrate its company’s 20th anniversary with the release of a new series from Linda K. Hubalek. The Kansas Quilter series will continue with the next generation of family members that were featured in the author’s Trail of Thread series.
Butterfield Books Inc. started in 1994 when acquiring Linda Hubalek’s first books, Butter in the Well and Prärieblomman from their original publisher. The company expanded by buying the Book Kansas mail-order book division from the Wichita Eagle Newspaper in 1996, which featured over 250 titles on Kansas subjects. The Book Kansas division was sold in 2002 to another company.
Today, Butterfield Books Inc. publishes historical fiction books (in print, ebook, and audio form) about pioneer women who homesteaded on the Kansas prairie.
Showcasing the company’s 20th year in business will be a new series from Linda K. Hubalek. The Kansas Quilter series is based on the author’s great grandmother’s life. Kizzie Pieratt was born in 1874, married at age twenty, and raised eight children besides farming and quilting for others.
“Visiting my great grandparent’s farm was the reason I started my writing career. Thirty years ago I put writing a book about Kizzie Pieratt on my bucket list, but research drew me into the Butter in the Well and Planting Dreams series first.
“A great uncle shared photos and stories about his parents and grandparents, which led me to write the Trail of Thread series,” said Linda K. Hubalek. “Now I’m finally getting back to the original book I planned to write.”
In the first book in the Kansas Quilter series, Tying the Knot, Kizzie Pieratt and her husband Ira decide to try their luck in the Indian Territory after the Wichita and Caddo Section opened in 1901. After a few years though, they make their way back to Kansas, which will continue the series.
