C&S Wholesale Grocers Announces 2015 Hunger Action Month Contributions
Keene, NH (PRWEB) September 28, 2015 -- During Hunger Action Month in September, C&S Wholesale Grocers announced grants to food banks and other initiatives to address domestic hunger.
Contributions to Food Banks
C&S made grants to 14 food banks in or near communities where the company has a presence. The focus of the contributions was on child hunger, primarily through the BackPack Program. The program alleviates weekend hunger among food-insecure children by quietly filling back packs with nutritious food on Fridays. Children at elementary schools in 10 states will be reached through the grants.

Non-perishable items such as peanut butter, soup, and tuna are being donated by employees and given to the closest food bank. C&S is matching each pound collected with a $1 contribution to Feeding America for child hunger initiatives. Since 2003, food donations by employees have totaled over 98 tons.
Feeding America recently recognized C&S Wholesale Grocers as a Leadership Partner in recognition of its contributions of food and funds and the commitment to fight against hunger.
