Every single poem has its individual story, a message to heighten consciousness, a call to action or even a fresh look into an old question.

The Bible was essentially author C. A. Boyles’ first introduction to poetry. That was particularly true for the books of Psalms, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes. The richness and beauty with which their verses were weaved together often transported him to a place beyond any physical space. He reveals his poetic works in his publication, “Linear Reactions.”

This book is a collection of stunning poems that chronicles his journey as a soldier from Guantanamo to Iraq. Boyles touches on varied subjects, ranging from love and war, beauty and wonders of nature and various relevant issues affecting the world. He gives emphasis on the universality of human condition. Irrespective of one’s race, color, nationality and social status, these poems can speak to everyone in some unique ways. Readers will be able to examine the astounding beauty of nature that awe and inspires in ‘At Sunrise.’ ‘Warm Slaves’ will remind them of the calamitous price of poverty where unsuspecting young women are ensnared every day into a life of modern slavery. ‘Flow and Thorns’ seeks to highlight personal emotional conflicts in a war environment.

“The magnificent beauty and forces of nature is quite central to this book because not only are we awed by nature, we are always at her mercy,” Boyles shares. “Equally important are the social issues of our time. War, autism, child abductions and sexual enslavement are all matters of profound importance to families, law enforcement and governments alike.”

In “Linear Reactions,” every single poem has its individual story, a message to heighten consciousness, a call to action or even a fresh look into an old question. These poems at first glance may seem to be distinct and unrelated, but in fact they are very much related since they all speak to all kinds of human beings.
