Caddio, Inc. Announces the Launch of Their Revolutionary Mobile Golf App
Malvern, PA (PRWEB) April 23, 2014 -- Caddio, Inc., a golf technology company, announced today the launch of their revolutionary mobile golf app for immediate download on the iTunes App Store (http://caddio.com/appstore).
Caddio™ is the first app of its kind, to provide golfers with a means of crowdsourcing local knowledge of golf courses. Using the built-in location services on their smartphones along with coordinates of more than 30,000 golf courses worldwide, Caddio enables golfers to share location and hole-based “tips” via an easy to use mobile interface. The resulting tips are stored in the Caddio Cloud, making them instantly accessible to golfers throughout the world.
Caddio’s introduction comes at a time when the golf industry is desperately seeking answers on how to grow the game. “The PGA and other industry leaders have been experimenting with 15 inch holes, FootGolf and a variety of other non-traditional methods to attract millenials and make the game easier and more enjoyable for all,” said CEO Sam Damico. “By enabling golfers to improve their results through increased course knowledge and awareness, and by leveraging social media to reach broader audiences, we feel Caddio can in part answer some of those concerns.”
While golfers spend on new equipment, lessons and other means of improving their game, Caddio offers a simple proposition; know more about the course in front of you and you’ll achieve better results. Unlike GPSs and range finders that provide precise yardages, Caddio delivers critical information that can only be gathered empirically such as roll off areas around greens, aiming points from tees, hidden hazards, tricky reads and a host of other data that ultimately affect outcomes on the course. “Every golfer has experienced the frustration of playing a special course, only to have a poor round not because of their ball striking, but due to their lack of familiarity with the nuances of the course,” stated Damico. Caddio’s crowdsourcing model means that golfers can enter data about courses and holes with which they’re familiar while benefitting from the knowledge of others on courses with which they are less familiar.
Caddio includes a rating system to ensure that valuable tips (as deemed by the crowd) surface to the top while less useful tips fall to the bottom. Golfers can filter by course, hole, personal tips or closest proximity. Caddio users can also leverage Facebook and Twitter to share tips with others that have not yet downloaded the app. In addition to the core functionality, Caddio provides a means for golfers to store their own personal swing keys and thoughts.
While currently available for iPhone, the company has plans to release a version for Android in the coming months.
