HOUSTON, Texas, Sept. 8, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Cadence McShane Construction Company has completed the construction of IDEA Hardy in Houston, Texas. Delivered on behalf of IDEA Public Schools, the project is the first of two schools that the district built in the Houston area.
Designed by Corgan, the two-story building incorporates 76,000 square feet with a masonry, fiber cement panel, and composite wood siding exterior. The project was constructed on a 15.5-acre site and includes classrooms and science laboratories, a full-sized cafeteria with a commercial kitchen, administrative and support spaces, and a competition gym. Outside, the campus features a soccer field, outdoor eating areas, and a surface parking lot.
As part of the assignment, Cadence McShane also performed site work, including two detention ponds, site grading, utilities, and landscaping.
"We're proud to have been given the opportunity to build one of the first IDEA Public Schools in the Houston area," commented Colby Rose, Vice President and General Manager of Cadence McShane's Houston region. "IDEA has a unique approach to education, and this innovative facility will help to support the school's mission of preparing students from underserved communities for success in college."
The school is initially serving students in grades kindergarten, first, second, and sixth. As the school continues to grow, IDEA Hardy will add a grade level each school year, eventually serving students in pre-K through 12th grade.
PMSI served as IDEA Public Schools' program manager during the construction of this project.
