Alcohol & Drug Rehab Calgary Launches New Initiative to Help Adolescents Reduce Alcohol Addiction and Substance Abuse
Calgary, Canada (PRWEB) January 10, 2014 -- A Calgary alcohol and drug rehab center is announcing that it has started a new program aimed at helping adolescents break their abuse of alcohol through new services available at Alcohol Addiction Treatment Centers.
According to a report from the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse, 19-30 percent of students between 12-18 years old report consuming five or more drinks on a single occasion within a 30-day period of time. Also, 12-20 percent of Grade 12 students report driving within an hour of drinking alcohol in the past year.
Information released by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health reveals "young people aged 15 to 24 are more likely to experience mental illness and/or substance use disorders than any other age group. Men have higher rates of addiction than women, while women have higher rates of mood and anxiety disorders."
Drug rehabilitation allows adults and adolescents a chance to get clean from their drug of choice, whether it is alcohol, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, or prescription drugs. A part of this process is detoxification, cleansing out the physical body filled with mind-altering substances.
Counselors and therapy await the young man or woman once they have completed detox. More times than not, there are real-life issues that a person has used drugs to hide, repress or deny within themselves. Some include physical, emotional, spiritual or mental abuse. Drug rehab allows clients time to discern and figure out what is their truth around these situations.
These people have many years of experience in the field of substance abuse treatment and addiction. They can make the transition from addiction to recovery easier. These rehab staff members rely on their personal and professional experiences with addiction to offer compassion and support to recovering individuals.
Alcohol Addiction Treatment Centers stand firmly upon the foundation of the Twelve Spiritual Principles of recovery, which include Honesty, Hope, Faith, Courage, Integrity, Willingness, Humility, Love for Others (Brotherly and Sisterly), Justice, Perseverance, Spirituality and Service. Entering and going through drug rehab can become a life-changing journey for any person serious about kicking their habit.
