California Homebuilding Foundation joins global GivingTuesday movement to support workforce education

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Nov. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The California Homebuilding Foundation (CHF) will celebrate GivingTuesday by raising awareness for construction workforce education in California high schools.
GivingTuesday, to be held December 3, 2019, is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide. The goal is to create a massive wave of generosity that lasts well beyond that day and touches every person on the planet.
CHF joined the GivingTuesday movement to support its educational program, the Building Industry Technology Academy (BITA)—a four-year construction training curriculum currently active in 32 high schools statewide.
The BITA program's mission is to provide a trained workforce to meet industry demand, offset worker retirement, and avoid labor shortages. Because of the generosity of donors and industry supporters, over 5,500 BITA students have gained the skills and confidence to pursue meaningful career paths.
"Life is about service, and there is a fundamental need in California to train more students to work in the construction industry. We have students who want to learn construction skills; however, we need your help to BUILD this program," said Terri Brunson, CHF's Executive Director.
"The Foundation is participating in GivingTuesday because education is a vital part of our industry and community. The need for skilled labor and trained construction professionals can no longer be overlooked. BITA students are talented, driven and hopeful for a bright future. I encourage donors to get involved on December 3rd and give back to the students who will build California's homes."
