CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 10, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Camelot 3PL Software, Inc., a pioneer in 3PL warehousing software, today announced that it has awarded Appalachian State University (ASU) $8,000 for the 2022-23 school year, to help the University and the Walker College of Business encourage students to enter careers in supply chain management.
The demand for qualified logistics professionals has never been higher. "Talent was a serious situation prior to the pandemic. It has become a crisis since," said Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) CEO Abe Eshkenazi, who pointed out that in logistics there is currently one qualified person for every six vacancies. Gone are the days where warehousing involved only moving pallets in and out of warehouse. The rise of advanced data analytics, machine learning, robotics, and sophisticated demand planning in the warehouse has put a new focus on the skills required to manage a warehouse.
Camelot is leading efforts to get students interested in careers in the supply chain industry by partnering with ASU. In addition to sponsoring job fairs, hackathons and speaking engagements, Camelot is providing scholarships ($3000) to students majoring in Computer Science. Camelot also provides summer internships to students at its Charlotte, NC headquarters. The internships give students the opportunity to experience the challenges and opportunities of today's 3PL warehousing industry.
