Camp Live Oak Introduces an Innovative Kind of Corporate Team Building Program
Camp Live Oak launches their new corporate program, which offers companies customized, one-of-a-kind business retreats and events. The innovative program combines fun, challenging outdoor adventures with interactive team-building activities to enhance employees' self-worth while building a sense of community.
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 7, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Originally founded as a children's camp in 1989, Camp Live Oak in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is now introducing a new kind of program designed specifically for corporate retreats and team building. Throughout Broward County, there are traditional companies that offer corporate training, but nothing like Camp Live Oak, which has been providing outdoor nature experiences for more than twenty-five years. By carrying out fun out-of-the-office activities, employees can view one another in a different light and connect in a setting outside of the norm.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the only accredited day camp by the American Camp Association (ACA) in Broward County, Camp Live Oak combines education about the environment with outdoor adventures and discovery in their new corporate program. The goal is to improve an employee's sense of well-being and productivity while allowing staff members to develop special bonds with each other.
"We have a year-round camp facility, offering a variety of different programs from sports, kayaking and hiking to art, crafts, and science," stated Ken Evans, the founder of Camp Live Oak. "It just seemed natural to extend our services to businesses who wanted an innovative way to inspire their employees."
The pilot program for corporate events began in February of this year with a group of United States military veterans. It consisted of seven trainings that embraced the concept of eco-therapy: participants were encouraged to reconnect with the great outdoors by participating in activities such as canoeing, swimming, and hiking. The program provided a venue for veterans to share stories, relax, restore, and build back trust while cultivating genuine fellowship.
"The entire purpose of a corporate retreat is to make people feel valued and to bring them closer together," said Susanna Coleman, the Associate Director of Camp Live Oak. "What better way to do this than to be out in the sunshine with the wind on your face, and around a camp fire?"
Camp Live Oak also hosted the Florida Democratic Party for a recent corporate outing in March. The organization delivered a customized program that involved building canoes, archery, and other outdoor activities. The goal was to give staff members a respite from their day-to-day work while offering them a chance to connect with each other in a way that they may never have done at the office. The result: the FDP noted in their feedback that employees developed better communication with each other, and the shared experience has fostered connections that has helped their team dynamic.
Each program is tailored made for companies based on their unique structure. Among the programs that corporations can take part in are things centered on problem solving, communication and collaboration, as well as critical thinking and creativity. Camp Live Oak can create programs that suit any type of organization's training, whether it's a day-long conference, a weekend retreat or an entire weeklong getaway. The camp's wide variety of indoor and outdoor facilities are designed to bring colleagues together and make them feel appreciated and respected.
