Camvi Technologies Ranked #1 by NIST in Advanced Face Recognition
Camvi Technologies announced today that its advanced face recognition technology was ranked #1 for Wild Image accuracy in the most recent Face Recognition Vendor Tests (FRVT) conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Camvi Technologies announced today that its advanced face recognition technology was ranked #1 for Wild Image accuracy in the most recent Face Recognition Vendor Tests (FRVT) conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
FRVT provide independent government evaluations of commercially available and prototype face recognition technologies. These evaluations are designed to provide U.S. Government and law enforcement agencies with information to assist them in determining where and how facial recognition technology can best be deployed. In addition, FRVT results help identify future research directions for the face recognition community.
FRVT measure the performance of face recognition technologies that are applied to a wide range of civil, law enforcement, and homeland security applications. The FRVT report includes measurements of accuracy, speed, storage and memory consumption, and resilience.
In the FRVT report released by NIST on November 15, 2018, Camvi's face recognition algorithm was ranked #1 in the world as the most accurate algorithm for the Wild Image dataset among algorithms submitted by 56 companies. Unconstrained wild images are the most challenging for face recognition, as they represent every day real-world images, as seen in surveillance footage and photojournalism. Wild images, as stated in the report, have resolution that varies very widely and are very unconstrained, with wide yaw and pitch pose variation. Wild image faces can also be occluded, including hair and hands. In addition to its industry-leading accuracy, Camvi's face recognition technology is among the fastest and most scalable in the world.
