EUREKA, Calif., April 1, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Carlson Wireless Inc., a leader in White Space radio systems, today announced the CE mark approval of their Next Generation TV White Space Band Digital Radio System.
The system is designed to fulfill "broadband to the home" needs in areas where foliage and terrain are challenging for microwave. The Next Generation System is an excellent fit for the exploding IoT portion of the 5G market supporting smart cities, asset tracking, plant automation, security and augmenting Wi-Fi indoors where microwave is saturated, or range limited. This product represents the first commercial use of 802.11af which is a variant of Wi-fi's 802.11ac bringing interoperability using the common set of Wi-Fi commands the industry is already familiar with.
The Next Generation Carlson System uses geo-location sensors to protect interference to TV broadcasters through a regulatory approved database. The system has been successfully trialed in Africa, United Kingdom, North America and South Asia. Field testing has shown TCP\IP download speeds as high as 40 Mbps with two non-contiguous TV channels and 25 Mbps with a single TV channel. The system also supports multiple routing configurations such as NAT or bridged network and tagged VPN's.
