Paul made a vow to Carol Scutt in the first year of their marriage that he would see that she have everything she ever dreamed or imagined. He kept that vow even on the last day of his life. Scutt wanted to give her family a record of the love story that existed between her and Paul. It prompted her to write “Lost Without Him” (published by Xlibris). In the summer of 1967, two teenagers from opposite kinds of upbringing, met in Columbia City, Indiana. The book tells their story as they fell in love and survived heartache and loss but went from poverty to affluence through hard work, devotion to each other and their love of God.

“Our journey was not without struggles. There was a time when we nearly divorced but, did not,” Scutt says. “This is an inspirational story for everyone whom desires a true, loving relationship with both God and their spouse. It will remind them that God will always be faithful.”

An excerpt from the book:

It was so emotional and heartbreaking for me. The reality of seeing his name carved in stone nearly broke me. I knew he was not there, and I was so grateful to God for that. Yet, knowing that the body of the man I loved more than life was there hit me like a ton of bricks.

I printed and laminated a sign that I taped under my name, which read: “With Paul to His Grave Went My Heart.”
