Carsforsale.com Participates in Hunger Action Month
Sioux Falls, SD (PRWEB) October 23, 2013 -- Carsforsale.com successfully held their first annual Carsforsale.com Food Drive for Hunger Action Month. Feeding America declared September as “Hunger Action Month” in order to help raise awareness of hunger issues across the country.
Carsforsale.com partnered up with Feeding South Dakota, while employee organizers divided staff into teams with specific goals and objectives each week. The three types of food targeted for each week included macaroni and cheese, canned tuna and/or boxed Tuna Helper, and other non-perishable food items.
Employee organizer Kara Meisinger explained, “Breaking the company into food drive teams was a wonderful way to keep healthy competition in the workplace while striving towards a common goal. It was a humbling experience to be part of a company that cares so much for the community.”
The event proved to be a great success, as Carsforsale.com donated a grand total of 2,704 items, totaling over 500 pounds of food, to the Feeding South Dakota hunger relief organization. With active participation across the entire company, the results were above and beyond what organizers had anticipated for the first year.
