SAN DIEGO (PRWEB) June 09, 2017 -- San Diego’s Cyber Center of Excellence (CCOE) is excited to announce its participation in this year’s San Diego Startup Week (SDSW), an annual event that brings together entrepreneurs to share progress, resources and celebrate the thriving innovation community the city has to offer.
CCOE will participate in the “San Diego Cybersecurity Economy” panel on June 21. The panel will feature San Diego’s public, private and academic cyber leaders discussing the region’s cyber economic impact, trends and trajectory of an industry that supplies 16,500 jobs and invests $1.9 billion into San Diego’s economy annually.
CCOE’s co-chair and president, Rear Admiral Ken Slaght, USN Retired, will moderate the panel. Panel members will include: Stephen Cobb, Senior Security Researcher, ESET North America; Tom Caldwell, Senior Director Software Engineering, Webroot; Pat Sullivan, Executive Director, SPAWAR; Teresa Macklin, Chief Information Security Officer, California State University San Marcos; and Charles Renert, VP Cybersecuity, ViaSat.
“We’re incredibly excited to be involved with San Diego Startup Week this year,” said Slaght. “Fostering a strong startup community is critical to maintaining and growing San Diego’s thriving economy. This panel affords us the opportunity to create an open dialogue about cybersecurity as it becomes increasingly important to the ongoing security and success of businesses in San Diego.”
CCOE member, ESET, will be sponsoring and hosting the SecureSD track at San Diego Startup Week this year. The SecureSD track includes the panel on San Diego’s cybersecurity economy, along with sessions covering “Startup Challenges – Cybersecurity and Drones,” and “Blockchain – Should you Invest?” and more.
In its fifth year, SDSW has grown to fulfill the needs of the community. What began as a series of five events has evolved into 15 industry specific tracks and more than 150 events including demos, educational panels and networking in downtown San Diego. At the heart of SDSW’s growth is the overwhelming sense of collaboration woven throughout the community. The 5,000 person event is made possible by a village of more than 300 volunteers, all who participate with the shared goal of driving the region’s startup economy forward.
CCOE’s “San Diego’s Cybersecurity Economy” panel will be held on June 21 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm PST. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit https://sandiegostartupweek.com/2017-sdsw-schedule/
