CenterPoint Energy Red River Balloon Rally Presented by Louisiana Office of Tourism to Be Held in Shreveport, July 12 & 13
Family-friendly event featuring live music, balloon glows, nightly fireworks shows and more will be held on the campus of LSU Shreveport.
SHREVEPORT, La., June 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The CenterPoint Energy Red River Balloon Rally Presented by Louisiana Office of Tourism will be held, 5-11 p.m., July 12-13, on the campus of LSU Shreveport. Now in its fourth year, this popular hot air balloon rally and festival attracted an estimated crowd of 20,000 festivalgoers in 2018. The event will feature the U.S. Southeast Regional Hot Air Balloon Championship, with up to 30 of the best balloon pilots in the U.S., as well as nightly balloon glows, live Christian, country and rock bands, nightly fireworks shows, tethered balloon rides, a kids' fun zone, food and craft vendors, and much more. Faith and Family Night presented by First Bossier on Friday, July 12 will include performances by the First Bossier Worship Band, Dillan Cate, Phillip Cole, Austin Lanier, The Hootens, Building 429 and KB. Saturday is Louisiana Saturday Night presented by Wray Ford with a music lineup that includes top regional Hispanic band, Los B-OK, an 80's music experience with The Molly Ringwalds, and a Brooks & Dunn tribute performance by Neon Circus. Special shape balloons helping to light up the sky will include Rocket the Flying Squirrel, Billy the Kid, Jack the Pirate, and Armadillo Cowboy.
Tickets for the festival are $10 for ages 6 and up if purchased in advance at participating Super 1 Foods and Brookshire's stores. Tickets at the gate are $12 for ages 18 and up, $10 ages 6-17, $10 military and free for ages 5 and under. The competitive balloons can be seen throughout Caddo and Bossier parishes each morning starting at 6:45 a.m. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, the balloons can be viewed at LSU Shreveport for an assigned competition target attempt.
In addition to the CenterPoint Energy Red River Balloon Rally Presented by Louisiana Office of Tourism, the public can also view the balloons at Balloons Over Desoto, 4-10 p.m., Sunday, July 14 at C. E. "Rusty" Williams Airport in Mansfield and Glow Greenwood, 6-9:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 10 at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood.
