ST. LOUIS, Oct. 12, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Central States Water Resources (CSWR), one of the 12 largest investor-owned water and wastewater utilities in the United States, today announced that it has become a member of the Center for Public Utilities (CPU) located in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
The CPU has been an integral part of the New Mexico State University's College of Business since the late 70s, providing training programs and policy conferences for federal and state commissions and utility companies. University faculty working in the CPU have vast experience in the regulatory realm including policy rulemaking proceedings, rate cases, and other federal and state commission related matters.
"We are grateful that our mission and outreach is supported by companies like Central States Water Resources," said Cindy Blume, Director of CPU. "Our pledge to serve the public interest by ensuring the efficacy of public utility regulation is the basis of CPU's programs, and our goal is to bring together utility companies and policy makers in an effort to define the conditions and services that best serve all stakeholders."
"Our commitment to safeguard communities while honoring all aspects of a fair and reasonable regulatory process, together with our active participation in the National Association of Utility Regulators, is what led to our membership with CPU," observed CSWR president Josiah Cox. "We believe in and support the need for public oversight and regulation, and programs like the ones offered by CPU are crucial in allowing us to fulfill our mission to bring safe, reliable and environmentally responsible water to every community in the United States."
