Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) July 29, 2014 -- The State Street Gallery at Robert Morris University Illinois has brought together three artists from the central part of the state in a joint exhibition at the RMU State Street Gallery, 401 S. State in Chicago. Bernie White-Hatcher of Rochester, Barnabas Helmy of Springfield and John Scarborough of Granite City demonstrate different styles and media but include themes of the Midwest and nature.
Bernie White-Hatcher, a retired draftsman and drafting supervisor for the Bell System, as well as an adjunct faculty member at Lincoln Land Community College, is an artist who believes her art reflects her personal evolution and development. Her landscapes and farm scenes are in hundreds of private and public collections in the US.
Barnabas Helmy chooses his subjects, carefully balancing color, line and composition, conveying everyday views in a new light. His work includes dramatic seascapes from around the world as well as cityscapes from downtown Springfield.
John Scarborough is a self-taught artist whose passion for art goes back to early childhood. A steel worker by day, he used his free time to continue studying the techniques and styles of the world’s most renowned painters. His realist style delivers beauty hidden in mechanical parts or store windows.
The exhibit continues through to September 17. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
