Created by celebrated VR artist Estella Tse, the virtual 'Sustainable Garden' encompasses the themes and sustainability goals of the Netherlands' delegation, which includes 70 startups and scale-ups and 12 CES 2024 Innovation Award winners
SAN FRANCISCO and AMSTERDAM, Jan. 9, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Kingdom of the Netherlands today unveiled a virtual reality 'Sustainable Garden" that encompasses the themes and sustainability goals of the Netherlands Tech Pavilion (NL Tech Pavilion) to open CES 2024. For the eighth consecutive year, the Netherlands will showcase 70 Dutch startups and scale-up companies and their most innovative tech solutions at Eureka Park at the Venetian Expo (Hall G, Booth 62100) from January 9-12, 2024. The NL Tech Pavilion theme for CES 2024 is "Let's Innovate Sustainable Solutions," and the CES 2024 delegation features 12 CES 2024 Innovation Award winners. Preview the CES 2024 NL Tech Pavilion companies here.
The immersive experience of the 'Sustainable Garden' celebrates the innovative spirit of the Netherlands that has shaped the country for centuries. Created by noted VR artist Estella Tse and inspired by the Keukenhof (aka the Garden of Europe) and principles of classic Dutch garden designs, the 'Sustainable Garden' is an interactive virtual art landscape that combines elements of tech and nature to show the parallels between the startups and nature's ecosystem, including the flow of data, energy, sensory systems and the evolution that leads to new ways of creating and existing. Three female botanical painters from the Dutch Golden Age — Maria Sibylla Merian, Rachel Ruysch and Maria van Oosterwijck — laid the foundation of the work presented in the 'Sustainable Garden.' HRH Prince Constantijn van Oranje, Special Envoy, Techleap, will officially open the 'Sustainable Garden' and the NL Tech Pavilion on Tuesday, January 9, at 10:30 a.m. Visitors are invited to step into the garden themselves and leave their suggestions to solve global challenges with the Netherlands.
"The Netherlands' reputation for global-changing ideas only continues to grow," said HRH Prince Constantijn van Oranje, Special Envoy, Techleap. "Many of the 70 start-ups and scaleups this year are acutely focused on making the world a better place. To reflect this, the 'Sustainable Garden' was created to illustrate the extensive ecosystem The Netherlands has created for innovators to flourish, explore, experiment and play. This VR experience reflects the Dutch reverence for nature and our belief that inspirational, altruistic and meaningful technologies are the solutions for the world we live in tomorrow."
"My role as a creative innovator is to inspire hope and optimism through my visual storytelling," said Tse. "When an environment is healthy, trees and plants will send energy and resources to plants that are hurting. There is a beautiful interdependence that exists in nature. When tech is created to help others, it's that same spirit of benevolence and community. 'Sustainable Garden' is meant to express that tech and nature can work together to forge a better future -- not just for humans, but the Earth and all living things."
