Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Aigul Japarova, wife of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, visited the National Historical Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic on Monday.
Peng and Japarova watched the welcome performance together before jointly visiting a traditional culture exhibition of Kyrgyzstan.
Peng said the costumes, carpets and other items on show, exquisitely crafted and richly colored, reflect the Kyrgyz people's long-standing handicraft traditions and unique customs.
Both China and Kyrgyzstan attach great importance to preserving and passing on traditional culture, she said, expressing the expectation that the two countries will continue to expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges and further enhance bonds between their peoples.
They also visited an art exhibition on ancient Chinese civilization organized by both sides and watched a Kyrgyz ethnic costume show, where they expressed a willingness to promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the two countries.
The National Historical Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic is Kyrgyzstan's highest-level national museum and houses a collection of artifacts that traces the history and development of the Kyrgyz people.
