CH2M Relocating to New Built-to-Suit in Greenville, South Carolina
Greenville, SC (PRWEB) July 22, 2015 -- CH2M, a global, Fortune 500 consulting, design, construction and operations firm with a total workforce of over 25,000 is expanding its Upstate South Carolina operations with a new 70,000 square-foot facility in Greenville County. The investment will involve relocation of 350 professional positions and is expected to generate dozens of new jobs in Greenville, S.C. Currently CH2M is working on projects in more than 50 countries worldwide, providing engineering solutions in the areas of transportation, water, environment, nuclear, oil gas & chemicals, industry and urban environments. CH2M prioritized a number of amenities including technology, building infrastructure and location all aimed at employee retention and recruitment.
“Following an extensive space search, it was determined that the build-to-suit in Verdae with Holder Properties would provide CH2M the opportunity to create an open, collaborative, highly-efficient workplace that caters to their business needs. Additionally, the suburban live-work-play environment is a great fit for CH2M’s growing, dynamic workforce and provides Verdae a desirable professional services tenant,” said Monty Harris, Savills Studley Corporate Managing Director, who advised CH2M.
By relocating its existing Upstate operations to this new Holder Properties’ build-to-suit facility, located at Bonaventure Circle off of Verdae Blvd. in Greenville, S.C., CH2M looks to significantly grow its operations in the Upstate, allowing the company to better meet increasing customer demand.
“We look forward to establishing a state-of-the-art, next generation workplace within the Verdae Community with its many recreational amenities and nearby commercial districts. CH2M is often ranked as one of the best companies to work for in the U.S. (#25 in 2015 according to Business Insider) and our goal is to be the engineering employer of choice in the Upstate community,” said Kent E. Smith, CH2M Regional Vice President.
Located along the Interstate 85 growth corridor half way between Atlanta and Charlotte, Verdae is poised to become one of the most prestigious business addresses in South Carolina. Professional and corporate office sites will be interconnected by pedestrian-friendly streetscapes, a lush central park and abundant green space. A Verdae office address also provides companies with easy access to I-85, I-385, and downtown Greenville.
Rick Sumerel, President & CEO of Verdae Development, Inc. said, “We welcome CH2M to Verdae and look forward to a very bright future for the company and its employees. This announcement is the result of the collaborative efforts of a network of entities to bring a global company and signature development project to Greenville.”
The new facility is being developed by Holder Properties and will be completed by April 2016, with hiring for new positions anticipated to begin during the 2nd quarter of 2016.
“We’re thrilled to be developing this exciting new office project at Verdae in Greenville. CH2M is an outstanding company and we’re proud to be associated with them,” said John Holder, Chairman and CEO, Holder Properties, Inc.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project. In addition, the City of Greenville has approved business license tax abatements and the County of Greenville has approved real and personal property tax abatements.
