HANOVER, Md., Dec. 13, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Author Penny Dean shares her story in the hopes that it can promote positive change in the workplace through Consequences for Stepping Up and Speaking Out: Working for the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, Equal Employment Opportunity Office ($15.99, paperback, 9781545653319; $7.99, e-book, 9781545653326).
Over 40 years in the workforce provided Dean with many examples of mistreatment in the workplace due to race, color, sex, age, disability, weight, height, knowledge, and appearance. She shares some of her experiences of being mistreated by officials in the pages of this book. Dean tried to have these officials held accountable for their actions, with no avail. Her anger for being mistreated kept her stories in the dark until she asked God for healing, and woke up with the answer: to write this book and help others going through similar situations.
"Writing this book for me is a means of personal healing, and I hope to promote positive change for others through awareness in the workplace to stop the harassment and hostile work environment and hold managers and supervisors accountable for their actions or inactions," said Dean.
Penny Dean retired from the United States Army with 22 years of service and the federal government with 20 years of service. Her experience includes being an Equal Opportunity Advisor, Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist, Administrative Specialist, and Personnel Specialist, along with other positions. Dean has two daughters, five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild on the way.
