Chapters Health System Expansion Set to More than Double County Coverage
Chapters Health System, one of the nation's premier not-for-profit, community-based healthcare organizations headquartered in Temple Terrace, today announced its expansion plans, which more than doubles its service area footprint. The health system was recently awarded the certificate of need (CON) for Service Area 3A by the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA), and plans are underway to bring not-for-profit hospice services back to the Florida Keys and surrounding areas.

The health system was recently awarded the certificate of need (CON) for Service Area 3A by the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA), and plans are underway to bring not-for-profit hospice services back to the Florida Keys and surrounding areas.
"At Chapters Health, we are always looking for opportunities to increase and expand access to quality healthcare for a greater number of individuals in our communities who are faced with advancing age, complex medical conditions and end-of-life issues," said Andrew Molosky, MBA, FACHE, CHPCA, president and chief executive officer at Chapters Health. "With this mission in mind and the knowledge that there was an unmet need, we applied and were awarded the CON for Service Area 3A. In addition, we are well underway with our plans to return not-for-profit hospice services to the unique communities of the Florida Keys."
At the beginning of 2020, Chapters Health offered services in 11 Florida counties in west central Florida. Within the first 30 days of the new year, plans were set in motion to add Monroe and Miami-Dade counties to the Chapters Health portfolio. With AHCA's CON decision on the 11-county region in north and north-central Florida including Gainesville and Lake City, Chapters Health expands to a total of 24 counties.
"When fully operational, we will be the largest not-for-profit provider from a geographical perspective in the state — from the Florida/Georgia border almost contiguous to the southern tip of the Sunshine State," continued Molosky.
Chapters Health will operate as Chapters Health Hospice in Service Area 3A, which includes the following counties: Alachua, Bradford, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Putnam, Suwannee and Union. The same name will be used in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Chapters Health Hospice joins the other member organizations of the health system, which include Good Shepherd Hospice in Polk, Highlands and Hardee counties; Hospice of Okeechobee in Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties; HPH Hospice in Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties and LifePath Hospice in Hillsborough County, and Chapters Health Home Care and Chapters Health Palliative Care.
"Down the road, once hospice services are fully operational for Chapters Health Hospice, we plan to increase and expand our portfolio to reflect Chapters Health's full continuum-of-care services including home health, palliative care and other community-based care models," added Molosky.
