Charlotte CIO Leadership Association Announces Recipients of 2018 CIO of the Year ORBIE Awards

Executives from Duke Energy, SnapAV, Sealed Air Corporation, Polypore International, LP, Extended Stay America, Rowan-Salisbury School System & Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Recognized for their Achievements

The Charlotte CIO Leadership Association (CharlotteCIO) announced the winners of its 2018 CIO of the Year® ORBIE® Awards. CharlotteCIO recognized chief information officers in seven key categories – Leadership, Super Global, Global, Enterprise, Corporate, Education and Healthcare. The ORBIEs were presented at the Charlotte CIO of the Year Awards at the Westin Charlotte.

“Today’s recognition of these CIO Executives’ ability to innovate and lead their organizations is the cornerstone of the Charlotte CIO Leadership Association’s vision of developing transformative technology leaders who deliver business outcomes that impact their organizations, their industries, and our world,” said Melissa Sawyer, Executive Director of CharlotteCIO. “Being selected by their peers is testament to the innovation, leadership and perseverance these individuals have mastered in earning this prestigious recognition.”

›› Ames Flynn, EVP Shared Services (Technology, Marketing, Facilities), Extended Stay America - Enterprise ORBIE for organizations over $500 million annual revenue

›› Joseph Topinka, CIO, SnapAV - Corporate ORBIE, for organizations up to $500 million annual revenue

›› Candace Salmon-Hosey, Chief Technology Officer, Rowan-Salisbury School System - Education ORBIE, for schools & nonprofit education organizations

›› Harold Moore, VP & System CIO, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System - Healthcare ORBIE, for hospitals & nonprofit healthcare organizations

The CIO of the Year ORBIE Awards is the premier technology executive recognition program in the United States. Since inception in 1998, over 500 CIOs have been honored as finalists and over 125 CIO of the Year winners have received the prestigious ORBIE Award. The Award honors chief information officers who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership.

Finalists and winners are selected by an independent peer review process, led by prior ORBIE recipients, based upon:
