FREDERICK, Md., March 27, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Hosted by The Frederick County Sheriff's Office, The Frederick County Health Department, and The Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, CTR will be one of nearly sixty vendors and speakers whose goal is to provide education and resources to local residents who are interested in being a part of the long-term opioid solution in our community.
CTR serves a critical role in achieving recovery from substance abuse. Toxicology works within the treatment phase by both ensuring the absence of unwanted substances and the presence of prescribed substances to aid in detoxification and recovery. CTR's state-of-the-art Frederick-based laboratory is equipped to minimize turn-around time in order to most efficiently serve its clients who are on the front lines of the recovery process.
Joe Magluilo, CTR's Co-founder and Executive Officer was ready with an affirmative response when Sheriff Jenkins sought their participation for this first-time event.
Magluilo said, "It's very important for people to understand how we have gotten where we are in this epidemic and how they as individuals can work towards the solution. Since our inception, we've partnered with many local organizations who provide counseling, treatment, support, and education to individuals and their loved ones. We wanted to give the community a look into how toxicology teams up with those organizations as part of the multi-faceted steps towards recovery. This collaborative event will address those concepts."

Joining Mr. Holler and Mr. Magluilo at CTR are Co-founder, Shawn Vorce who serves at the lab's Technical Director, and Dr. Barry Levine, Laboratory Director and former Chief Toxicologist for the State of Maryland from 1992 to 2012. He is an adjunct professor in the Forensic Sciences Department at Stevenson University. He edited the frequently selected textbook Principles of Forensic Toxicology which is now in its fourth edition.
