CHICAGO, Aug. 8, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- For Marina Kostina, June 19, 2022, was a day that changed her life forever. A warm summer invitation to do tandem skydiving with friends took an almost fatal turn when a gust of wind twisted her parachute and unexpectedly shattered her physically and emotionally. Kostina reveals her fateful personal traumatic experience, her will to live again, and tools to help others in her new book called "52 Pieces: A Manual of Light to Survive the Abyss of Trauma." The book is an Amazon bestseller in the categories of inspiration, motivation, and personal growth.
Kostina is the owner of the Chicago-based Ravenous for Life Healing Center, a hypnotherapist, and an energy healing practitioner specializing in trauma and addictions. En route to her skydiving adventure, she wrote about how her gut feeling, and her intuition told her to not go but she ignored it and went anyway. She recalled being nervous about pairing up with a young female instructor who weighed less than her.
"I expected – and wanted – a strong, big man to be my instructor," she wrote. "I verbalized these fears to my friend, and he made a joke that I, of all people, should be okay with our "girl power." The girl power argument was very intellectually convincing, and it was the last straw in shutting down my intuition completely. I mean, how could I argue with that? After all, I'm the one who dedicates her life to helping women feel their strength, uniting and supporting one another. The girl power mantra blinded, deafened, and paralyzed my "fight-for-your-life" intuition, and made me temporarily insane."
The aftermath of the accident left Kostina, a very active woman who taught Zumba exercises classes, yoga, and other activities, in a severely injured state, heavily medicated and hooked to life-saving machines for some days. She was horrified to learn that her face and body were broken into 52 pieces and temporarily paralyzed.
"I saw that my usually pretty face was completely broken," she explained, "I actually had no face. By the time, I woke up, I had surgery done to where the doctors were, what I would say, 'stitching pieces of meat together,' I was told that my movement will be impeded. I was immobile for two and half weeks where I could not even have anything in my mouth to drink."
Within a year, Kostina endured 10 reconstructive surgeries and the healing process is far from over as she has many procedures ahead of her. Her background as an energy healer and hypnotist aided her in her mental recovery.
"Thank to my background, I could recover faster between surgeries and could manifest faster deadlines and finding the right doctors to help me," she said. "I refer to this situation in a book chapter called Science of Miracles where I mention the work of such famous people as hypnotist Freddy Jacquin and scientist Dr. Konstatine Korotkov, both teachers to me. I also mention Joe Dispenza who I personally met. I also took his workshops that I used for my healing and manifesting miracles. While Western medicine blessed me with talented surgeons who put my face together, my background helped me survive on the psychological and emotional levels, while manifesting miracles."
Kostina also guides readers through a three-step journey from trauma to recovery to triumph and also created a set of 52 cards to help with emotional healing.
"I hope those of you who are going through emotional or physical trauma and reading this book will understand that you are not alone," she wrote. "Success is not the absence of dark times; it is the ability to move forward DESPITE those times, and to trust something bigger than yourself to make it all okay. Trauma is not necessarily the grand negative event that happens TO us, but our reaction to it. In the end, we have a choice to be absorbed by our "bad fortune" or transform it into something meaningful and powerful."
