Chicago-Based Home Chef Names Alice Thompson Chief Operating Officer

CHICAGO, Aug. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Home Chef, a leading meal kit delivery company, has promoted Alice Thompson to the role of chief operating officer according to founder and chief executive officer Pat Vihtelic. Most recently, Thompson served as Home Chef's vice president and interim head of operations where she led logistics, operations excellence, customer support, food safety and more for the company currently boasting 1800 employees.

Home Chef has ranked number-one in customer satisfaction for two consecutive years among leading meal kit companies, according to Market Force Information U.S. Grocery Benchmark Study. Founded by Vihtelic in 2013, the company merged with The Kroger Co. in late 2018 and currently delivers over 3.5 million meals each month to online subscribers and Kroger grocery store shoppers.

In her new role, British-born Thompson will capitalize on her global business expertise to scale the growing business with the key leadership team she helped develop. She expects to play an essential role in managing the planned business growth as Home Chef seeks to materially increase the size of its operations out of the new San Bernardino production facility announced July 31.

Previous career highlights for Thompson include serving as global systems manager for London-based CRCC Asia Ltd. where she managed sales teams across Australia, Italy, the UK, and the US, and led cross-functional initiatives to improve the customer experience. She'll apply that global leadership experience to help achieve Home Chef's ambitious goals.

Thompson earned a Master of Business Administration degree from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from University College London (UK). As an avid traveler, Alice has visited 65 countries including a year volunteering in Latin America.
