Chicago Social Security Disability Lawyer Releases New Video Regarding the Social Security Application Process

The first video to be released touches on the issue of how long the Social Security process takes. Attorney Jonathan Pearson explains that applying for Social Security disability can be a lengthy process from start to finish, and unfortunately there is not much a lawyer can do to speed up the process. An average case can take up to two years to complete. Pearson explains that since so many individuals are applying for social security across the country the system is overwhelmed and understaffed to handle the influx of applications.
However, he cautions that even given the length wait times, individuals should not hold off on hiring an attorney. He says having an attorney by your side can significantly aid in the preparation process for the eventual hearing.
“Some people show up unprepared to their hearing because they forget about their case, which unfortunately can result in denial of the application in some instances,” says Pearson.
He explains that there are many tasks that can be accomplished while an individual waits on their Social Security hearing date. Pearson says that hiring an attorney early allows time to complete a case file in preparation to present all of the necessary evidence and information to the judge in a competent and efficient manner.
