EVANSTON, Ill., Feb. 4, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Hagerty Consulting today announced that Chris Hartnett, former Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region II Public Assistance Branch Chief, has joined the firm's New York City office as Senior Disaster Recovery Program Manager. In his new role with Hagerty Consulting, Hartnett will provide comprehensive preparedness, response and recovery subject matter expertise. Chris will be based in Hagerty's New York City office, where he will serve clients throughout the country in the delivery of Preliminary Damage Assessments (PDAs), Individual (IA) and Public Assistance (PA) programs, and leading innovative policy initiatives throughout Emergency Management operations.

As FEMA's Region II Public Assistance Branch Chief, Hartnett provided oversight, coordination, and management of all PDAs with stakeholders, as well as PA grants. He was also responsible for the management of resources to support staff deployments for Cadre of On-Call Recovery Employees. As a Region II asset, Hartnett was deployed pre-landfall for response and recovery to Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria, where he spent 16 months in the U.S. Virgin Islands, serving as both the Infrastructure Branch Director, as well as the Federal Coordinating Officer for Response and Recovery efforts.

Prior to serving as the Region II Public Assistance Branch Chief, Hartnett was the Director of FEMA's New Jersey Sandy Recovery Office for Hurricane Sandy. Before joining Hagerty, Hartnett was also deployed to Ponce, Puerto Rico, as a part of FEMA's Incident Management Assistance Team for the region's earthquakes in January 2020.
Hartnett began his professional career as a New Jersey State Trooper, where he was assigned to the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management as the State Public Assistance Officer. In that position, Hartnett served as one of the State Coordinating Officers for 11 presidential declared disasters, including Hurricane Irene and Hurricane Sandy. Prior to his tenure with the New Jersey State Police, Harnett served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Centenary College.
