City of Flora Signs OATI AMIoT™ Contract to Modernize Infrastructure
MINNEAPOLIS (PRWEB) June 25, 2019 -- OATI is pleased to announce that the City of Flora chose OATI AMIoT™, the Internet of Things-based AMI solution, to assist with revamping its metering system. OATI AMIoT™ will help Flora revolutionize their infrastructure with up-to-the-minute metering and smart technology to better serve their residents. OATI is partnering with Vision Metering, LLC (Vision), a premier provider of LoRa-based electricity meters.
OATI AMIoT™ is a disruptive AMI technology, poised to help small municipalities become leaders in the next generation of smart metering. The solution utilizes a LoRa-based network for the communication backhaul, encompassing a Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) protocol that provides bidirectional communications to the meters, and other devices, on the IoT network.
OATI AMIoT™ is a highly cost-effective solution that also offers great flexibility to support a variety of use cases beyond AMI. The LoRa network takes advantage of open wireless and messaging communication protocols that allows utilities to add a multitude of LoRa-based devices such as gas and water meters, asset tracking, distribution automation, load management, and other sensing and control devices.
Flora serves a community of over 5,000 residents in the state of Illinois. OATI AMIoT™ will help the city provide the AMI head-end system for nearly 3,000 residential and commercial electrical metering points. The system will support integration of meter location and outage information using online mapping and integration with Flora’s existing utility billing software. This will help the city address service issues as they happen and minimize the effects they have on the community.
“We are proud to empower the great tradition of small towns embracing disruptive technology, the way Flora has with OATI AMIoT™,” said Dr. Sasan Mokhtari, President and CEO of OATI. “This is the forefront of AMI technology, providing simple and cost-effective solutions that will bring Flora’s metering processes into the future.”
