Civil Rights Icon And Former UN Ambassador Andrew J. Young To Broadcast Live On MLK Holiday
Civil Rights icon Andrew J. Young commemorates Martin Luther King Jr.'s 90th birthday and national holiday with a special message titled "Dr. King's Dream: Where Are We Today?" Ambassador Young is partnering with Geniecast to broadcast this inspirational and timely message on Monday, January 21 at 11 a.m. EST.
ST. LOUIS, Jan. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On January 21, 2019, Civil Rights icon Andrew J. Young will partner with Geniecast to deliver a special live streamed broadcast address commemorating the 90th birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the national holiday that bears his name.
Titled "Dr. King's Dream: Where Are We Today?", the friend and trusted adviser to Dr. King will speak to where we stand now, 55 years after the Great March on Washington, in fulfilling his dream of redeeming the soul of America from the evils of racism, war, and poverty.
Ambassador Young began working with Dr. King in the early 1960s, and helped draft both the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. He was a witness to Dr. King's assassination, and continued working as an activist through 1970 when he shifted roles to politician and diplomat. After nearly 20 years of public service, he founded The Andrew J. Young Foundation to help make his visions for the planet a reality, and has earned Lifetime Achievement Awards for his civil rights and political work.
In 2018, speaking about 50th anniversary of Dr. King's assassination, Ambassador Young told CNN, "I've done all kinds of things, but there's nothing that I've done that I didn't feel was inspired by something that came into me through him."
