LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Claire's Place Foundation, a non-profit organization providing support to children and families affected by cystic fibrosis (CF), is proud to announce that its Second Annual Clairity Ball will take place on October 17, 2020. Celebrating the life and legacy of their late founder Claire Wineland, the event will provide crucial funding for the foundation's programs that offer educational, emotional and financial support to the cystic fibrosis community.
In 2019, Claire's Place Foundation received a record number of grant requests from CF families dealing with the financial stress of extended hospital stays. The foundation's grants help CF patients like Aiden who spent over 100 days in the hospital in 2019. Aiden and his family were barely financially holding on, even though both parents were juggling full-time jobs and caring for two other children, while trying to spend as much time with Aiden during his hospitalizations. The grant allowed the family to spend more time with Aiden without the added stress of unpaid of bills.
"Our First Annual Clairity Ball in June was a huge success! We had celebrity guests, performances and over 350 in attendance," said Claire's Place Foundation Executive Director Melissa Yeager. "The CF community needs us. That's why: Until there's a cure, there's Claire's Place. The requests from families with children with CF have been increasing. No mother or father should have to chose between work and being by their child's side during hospital stays. They should not have the added stress of unpaid bills. We provided over $130,0000 in grants this past year to families in need and we are working hard to raise needed funds to help many more families in 2020."
Not only does the foundation strive to provide financial support to children and families affected by CF, the foundation raises awareness of the impact that CF can have on individuals and families. The past year the foundation has made enormous strides in building awareness for CF across the globe.
In March 2019, the major motion picture Five Feet Apart was released globally. Claire's Place Foundation's late founder Claire Wineland inspired filmmaker and director Justin Baldoni to make the film. Justin and Claire's friendship developed from her work on CW's My Last Days. Justin witnessed Claire's life with CF. He learned about the unique complexities of the disease, inspiring him to make a movie to elluminate the life-threatening disorder and raise awareness. The film earned hundreds of top press placements such as being featured on the Today Show; actor Cole Sprouse won a People's Choice Award for his role in the film; and the film ignited social media conversations across the globe about CF.
In September, on the one-year anniversary of Claire's passing, the documentary Claire, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Nick Reed and Ryan Azevedo, was released exclusively on YouTube Orginials. The film tells the story of Claire through interviews and footage. It spotlights her unique outlook that inspires millions to find purpose and to live proudly. Reed and Azevedo masterfully use their film to allow Claire's message to resonate with the audience. The film has been viewed by over 1.6 million in its first three months and has been featured in Entrepreneur Magazine, Thrive Global, Business Insider and more.
