Dr. Beatty is a board-certified psychiatrist and a Diplomate of both the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Pain Medicine. After completing an internship in psychiatry at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, he returned to his hometown of Philadelphia to complete his training at Drexel University. In addition to private practice, he has held a faculty appointment at Thomas Jefferson University. He has treated patients in the acute inpatient and emergency settings as well as developed outpatient services for chronic pain.
One of Dr. Beatty’s specializations is treating addiction as a component of pain management. He helps clients examine the triggers to use, any co-occurring mental health issues they face, and the impact of addiction on their daily lives. “People get stuck in a pain cycle, building up a tolerance to medication, and require more to get through the day and to cope with stress or anxiety,” he explains.
Dr. Beatty works to find alternatives to habit-forming medications and takes a humanistic approach to client care. “I try and connect with the patient at whatever level I can and find common ground,” he says.
