Clarksville Christian School (CCS) announced today it will build a new campus as part of the Killebrew mixed-use development on Rossview Road in Montgomery County.
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn., April 26, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Clarksville Christian School (CCS) announced today it will build a new campus as part of the Killebrew mixed-use development on Rossview Road in Montgomery County.
Leaders for the private school, which will top 500 students in the next year, said growth in Montgomery County and the school's desire to provide a full experience for its families led to the move. The school will maintain and continue to use its campus in the Sango community.
"As we look back on the past 15 years of serving students and families, much research, time and prayer have been given to assessing our future needs and those of our community. The partnership with Killebrew provides us with the space we need to add well-equipped academic buildings, expansive athletic facilities and ample administrative office space," said Dr. Brad Moser, school president.
CCS started in 2007 at the Hilldale Church of Christ, moving to the current campus site in 2010. Since then CCS has continued to add to the campus, while growing from fewer than 50 initial students to more than 450. By 2019, CCS had maxed out the Sango campus and brought some operations back to Hilldale.
Moser said that CCS is responding to a desire for Christian education in Montgomery County and neighboring communities by making the Killebrew campus its main location. Moser told CCS families in a letter earlier this spring that a plan for a new campus was in the works.
"We considered all possibilities and have made the decision to expand our influence in private, Christian education. The only way to do that is to grow, and the only place to grow is on a new campus. The new Killebrew campus will allow us to draw students from across the region, the country and even globally." Moser said.
Philip Hagewood, a principal for Killebrew developer Rossview Farms LLC, said the CCS announcement is in keeping with the developer's commitment to create spaces for education at Killebrew.

The new CCS campus will join two new Montgomery County public schools in the Rossview Road corridor that are currently being built on land adjacent to the Killebrew development. Killebrew is the work of Rossview Farms LLC, which is developing the first mixed-use development in Montgomery County. Killebrew will be home to a mix of retail, residential, nonprofit and commercial space.
Moser said he expects construction to begin on the new campus in the coming months.
A Timeline of Clarksville Christian School's Growth:
2007: CCS was founded as a K-5 school with fewer than 50 students in the Sunday School wing of the Hilldale Church of Christ.
2010: CCS opened Phase I of its own Sango campus in a facility that featured 14-15 classrooms plus administrative offices.
2014: Phase II was launched and added eight more classrooms, a dining hall and a gymnasium.
2018: A playground, courtyard and two modular buildings were added, which helped provide four more classrooms.
2019: Another modular building was added, and CCS began to use the Hilldale building again for some classes.
2020: CCS purchased a fourth modular building and expanded the footprint at Hilldale.
2021: CCS announced to families that an exploration of a new campus plan was underway.
2022: The Killebrew campus on Rossview Road was announced, as the school has grown from 200 students to over 450 in the last five years.
