Cleanlogic to Host Dining in the Dark Event in Boston to Support the Blind Community
BOSTON (PRWEB) June 26, 2019 -- Cleanlogic—the brand best known for their premium range of exfoliating spa accessories—will be hosting a unique dining experience at Hampshire House Boston on July 17, 2019, entitled Dining in the Dark during which guests will be invited to experience life as a blind person, if only for a moment.
Founder Isaac Shapiro, the son of a visually-impaired mother, has made it his mission to develop brands like Cleanlogic that incorporate functional Braille on their packaging. Though many of us underestimate the importance of Braille, the blind community often relies on it to independently perform day-to-day tasks. Dining in the Dark was developed to broaden the horizons of those who are unfamiliar with the struggles of the blind community due to lack of exposure, as well as to promote the importance of inclusivity.
Shapiro will be speaking about his experience growing up with a blind parent noting how his mother was able to navigate life successfully despite her visual impairment. Guests will then be asked to wear blindfolds for the remainder of the dinner to give them an understanding of what blind individuals experience each day. The event venue, Hampshire House, specializes in these types of events where the chefs will ignite individuals’ other four senses, as the blind do each day: touch, taste, smell, and sound.
“Since childhood, I have always envisioned starting a company and using my influence and capital to donate to non-profits that help the blind and visually impaired while bringing awareness to the issues facing the blind community,” says Shapiro. “Events like Dining in the Dark are an amazing experiential opportunity to educate individuals on blindness in a way that goes beyond words alone.”
In addition to driving awareness to the blind experience, Cleanlogic makes annual donations to support non-profit organizations like Lighthouse, Vision Serve, and New Vision for Independence which advocate for the blind community and aid visually-impaired individuals with skills needed to achieve maximum independence.
