ANNAPOLIS, Md. (PRWEB) January 25, 2018 -- ClearHealth Quality Institute™ (CHQI) announces the release of the draft standards for its new Telemedicine Accreditation Program. After six months of weekly meetings, the CHQI Telemedicine Standards Committee has completed a comprehensive set of draft standards to assess the quality and effectiveness of telemedicine programs offered by a wide array of organizations. In May 2017, CHQI entered into a strategic partnership with the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) to take over and update the ATA’s pioneering accreditation program, which was launched in 2015.
The public comment period will allow interested parties to provide feedback on the CHQI Telemedicine Accreditation Program Standards, version 2.0 before the Standards are finalized. The public comment period begins on January 25, 2018 and will close on Friday, February 9, 2018. See http://www.chqi.com to learn more.
“The CHQI Telemedicine Standards Committee has incorporated the most prevalent use cases to ensure that the Standards cover all key clinical services and delivery models for telemedicine,” states Bill Lewis, MD, MBA, CHQI Telemedicine Standards Committee Co-Chair and national telemedicine expert. “Combining ATA’s 25 years of expertise in telemedicine with CHQI’s accreditation leadership is a perfect match to optimize the next version of the Telemedicine Standards.”
“The importance of receiving feedback from a wide array of stakeholders cannot be understated,” adds Alexis Gilroy, JD, CHQI Telemedicine Standards Committee Co-Chair and Partner, Jones Day. “It is critical to ensure that the accreditation standards reflect both best practices and thought leadership within the telemedicine industry.”
“The CHQI accreditation standards development process has been designed to include input from a broad range of stakeholders for each of the programs under development,” says Joel V. Brill, MD, FACP, CHQI Advisory Board Chair and Chief Medical Officer, Predictive Health. “CHQI’s new Telemedicine Accreditation Program Standards, version 2.0 will help standardize telemedicine encounters and promote better clinical outcomes.”
Individuals interested in reviewing the Telemedicine Accreditation Program Standards, version 2.0 can register at http://www.chqi.com. Feedback received during the public comment period will be carefully reviewed along with the results of beta testing to help CHQI finalize the Telemedicine Standards.
The Telemedicine Accreditation Program will offer high-fidelity and targeted standards covering key elements of the emerging telemedicine industry. CHQI plans to officially launch the Telemedicine Accreditation Program in March, along with a comprehensive accreditation guide that provides background on each standard and details the documentation requirements. The CHQI Telemedicine Accreditation Program Standards, version 2.0 are complemented by a streamlined application process to facilitate an efficient experience for telemedicine providers seeking recognition through CHQI.
