CoolSculpting was cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2010 as a safe method for reducing isolated pockets of resistant fat. The noninvasive technique is based on the science of "cryolipolysis," using cold temperatures to freeze and destroy fat. Without harming surrounding healthy tissue, CoolSculpting damages fat cells, which are then metabolized and eliminated by the body naturally.
