Voxx Analytics has co-authored an analysis of climate change funding with a team from Chapman University’s Computational and Data Science graduate program, led by Professor Hesham El-Askary, Director of Graduate Programs. The article “Review of Climate Research and Funding 1993--2017” was published in the Journal of Environmental Informatics Letters. The analysis found that funding for climate research has steadily increased over the last 25 years, with the US and Europe investing hundreds of millions of dollars in alternative and renewable energy. It also assessed the impact of number of investigators, abstract word count and institution types on the class of grant awarded by the National Science Foundation.
“Chapman University has made the sciences a priority and shares our enthusiasm for applied analytics,” said Tony Page, CEO at Voxx Analytics. “Voxx is the leader in using network analytics to understand how scientific and medical experts collaborate to influence the way diseases are treated. When we suggested a collaboration on climate change, Chapman jumped at the opportunity.”
Voxx provided the Chapman research team with access to Voxx’s proprietary network analytics tools, while Chapman provided the majority of staffing. “Our collaboration with Voxx has been an ideal academic-industry partnership,” said Professor El-Askary. “Our students are able to apply their skills to real business challenges that also demand significant academic achievement to overcome.” Supporting this viewpoint is Daniel Vesely, Voxx President and COO. “These innovative projects are learning opportunities for everyone--it’s been great to contribute to the understanding of an important scientific topic.”
